Chronicling almost a century of his life from 1918 to the present, the book spans Rall's childhood in Germany, his service in the Luftwaffe on the Eastern Front, his capture by the Americans, and his subsequent service as a general with NATO who helped to develop the F-104 jet, and later became head of the new German Air Force.
